St. Louis Post Dispatch dated January 31, 1924: Girl, dying after taking poison, tells of marriage - Marguerite Cain, 19, Refused to Tell Why She Wanted to End Her Life. Marguerite Cain, 19 years old, died at the City Hospital last night, an hour after swallowing poison at the residence of Mrs. Emil Zoeller. 1600 South Tenth Street, where she was employed as housekeeper. The girl informed hospital physicians, just before she died, that she had been married for some time and that she was about to become a mother. She refused to tell hospital attaches why she wanted to die. Mrs. Zoeller and Earnest Cain, a brother, 1610 Mississippi Avenue, said they knew nothing about the marriage. Mrs. Zoeller said the girl had not discussed her personal affairs during the four months she had been employed there. Mrs. Cain's home was at Iron Mountain, Mo.
